Picking your songs.... It's not easy!

So you're planning an event, and your DJ has either said you can put in music request or asked you for a playlist of songs! But which songs do you want to hear!!
Chances are you scrambled together a list of songs of the top of your head... chances are you missed out songs you really really wanted if you look back on the list! So why not take your time!
AlexEntertainment never push you for a list... and we would hope that no other DJ's do either! Picking music can be a very hard choice to make and we feel it's one you should take the time to do.
Why not try out our handy hints and see how GREAT your list can be!

Tip 1) Carry a notebook with you, or if this isn't practical a pen at least! Jot down reminders or suggestions of songs as you potter around the house, or town, or in the car, or just about anywhere!

Tip 2) If you have a smartphone, download the SHAZAM app... just in case you hear a song you really like! You can then tag the song, find out who it's by and what it's called! Sometimes it will even give you the name of the remixes available! PERFECT!

Tip 3) If you are limited to how many songs you can request (for example, you're only allowed 10 songs so the DJ has a rough idea on what to play) ... make sure they are songs YOU enjoy and can dance to!

Tip 4) Gone over your song limit? They write the songs on to pieces of paper, put them in a hat and pick them out randomly! Ensure the songs you put in are songs you do really want played!

Tip 5) Create a second list!! That's right... create your playlist of how ever many songs... and then create the second list! This is a list of songs that you would like played, but are not important or 100% must plays! DJ's will appreciate this as this can give them more flexibility on what you want played and how the dancefloor reacts!

Tip 6) TAKE YOUR TIME! Leave a piece of paper around the house somewhere... so you can write down ideas and suggestions! You might want to ask other household members to write their suggestions down too! We usually advise leaving the paper there for about 2 weeks... you'll be surprised at what songs you think of during that time!

FINAL TIP) Speak to your friends.... Why not ask some of your friends what they would like played at the event. The DJ will then be able to cater for a larger audience then!

So if they have a special song they love, they can request it early and ensure it's played at some point during your night!
